I’m eighteen and currently live with my boyfriend in the Midlands. I’ve always been interested in art but I’ve had a passion for photography since I was thirteen. Recently I just finished my diploma courses, studying photography at Sutton Coldfield College, and I’m going on to study a degree in photography at university later this year. My work has been featured in a range of magazines and e-zines and I’ve worked with a variety of clients including bands, actors and children. I am always trying to find ways of taking my work to the next level. Currently I use a Canon 350D with the Canon 50mm f/1.8 lens, but I also use the Canon 60mm f/2.8 & 18-55mm lens. Lighting is usually natural but sometimes use my Interfit lighting kit.

Hyperreal Paintings by Denis Peterson

Denis Peterson - BFA, MFA Painting, Pratt Teaching Fellowship. Worked with the prestigious President Wilkerson Pratt to redesign the urban campus during a time of school’s burgeoning growth. Denis was spraying acrylic paints in airbrushes at a time when it was unheard of. His early New Realism paintings of large figurative works were distinguished by “cropping” the picture frame as an aesthetic perversion of photography. It was a novel approach, now common in the newer figurative photorealist paintings. While working as a commercial artist in NYC, his paintings were exhibited at the Brooklyn Museum,in universities, and at several galleries. He later left the art field, but returned years later to pioneer a new school of painting as a departure from Photorealism called Hyperrealism, breaking once again from the more formalistic conventions of traditional painting. Now considered a fully-fledged ligitimate school of painting, Hyperrealism challenges the distinction between perception and illusion. As a counter culture school of painting, Hyperrealism incorporates an existential frame of reference as an altered reality. Thematically, his provocative hyperrealist depictions relate to political and cultural deviations of societal decadence, its enigmatic imagery, and the aftermath of its tragic, ideological consequences. They confront the corrupted human condition in a convincing illusion of reality, or hyperreality. Denis has exhibited his Hyperrealism paintings in colleges, galleries and public museums. His work can be found in private and public collections throughout the United States. Hyperrealism paintings by Denis Peterson are sought after by art collectors worldwide.

Claire Scully - The quiet revolution

The quiet revolution is the body of work by London based Illustrator Claire Scully inspired by the conflicting and harmonious relationships the urban environment has with the natural world. "The primary focus of my personal work is to explore the relationship between nature and the modern urban environment by the subversion of the familiar and overlooked into a sinister surreal situation using mutation and juxtapositions. A mix of playful humour with sinister undertones of conflict and mutation the quiet revolution is a visual exploration into the relationship between the natural world and the urban environment showing the significance of nature within a cities surroundings and the struggle for power we have with it, by using a combination of printed illustrations with moving image". Claire Scully: Studied for BA Graphic and Media design at London College of Communication (01-04) and Central Saint Martins (04-06) for MA Communication Design. As well as continually working on many personal projects and frequently collaborating with various other artists, Claire works as a freelance illustrator.

Printed / digital

In this section I have my print based / digital work. These are all digitally produced artworks that use some of the main principles of screen-printing but with the bonus of using a computer too I can create work with much more intricate detail. Because of my organic approach to my image making I try to create digital illustration without it looking like digital illustration.

I decided to start my adventure in photography in March of 2004. My first weapon of choice was the Olympus D560Z, a wonderful point and shoot digital camera that my wife got me for my birthday. The little camera sparked my imagination and after a year of experimentation, the spark became a flame. Three years later and I am now armed with a Canon 30D and a host of lenses covering all focal lengths.

Urban art in Moscow.

"In Russia where is in winter sun is a very rare thing such kind of art might keep the winter depression away. For instance this fall-winter there were no visible sun in Moscow for more than 30 days. Due to this it was reported that a lot of people simply refuse to go to work because of an enormous depressive state they were in."
